Remember Nelly Furtado? Here’s What The Singer Looks Like Now
Nelly Furtado, of “I’m Like a Bird Fame” (don’t be shy, we totally had that song on our mix CDs, too) made a rare public appearance since taking a hiatus from music in the early 2000s.
The Canadian pop star hit the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival (or TIFF for those in the crowd) to support an actor pal rocking a slicked back pixie cut.
Her last album released in 2012, The Spirit Is Indestructible, sold only 6,000 copies during its first week on shelves, or wherever jams have been sold since iTunes.
In an interview the following year, the 36-year-old Grammy-winner addressed her career pitfalls.
“That’s the price you pay for being passionate about music and refusing to believe it’s your job all these years. It’s just still seeing it as a hobby,” she told Gig City.
“My poor manager. He’s suffered many grey hairs because of it. I’m just really hard-headed and I just do what I want to do. Some people come along, some people don’t.”
“I’ve made my hobby into a career, but sometimes I still look at it as a hobby so I don’t always make the best ‘career choices.’ But I enjoy it every step of the way, which I think is the most important thing.”
And with that, we’ll play you out:
