After She Was Told She Might Not Be Able To Have Children, This Mom Conceived Quadruplets From FOUR Separate Eggs
Katalina Martin was told by doctors that although she had a successful pregnancy before, she might not be able to have another baby due to her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis. But despite the odds, Katalina did get pregnant with not just one, two, or three babies…but four!
“The sonographer was scanning me for ages and kept peering at the screen,” Katalina said about finding out the news. “I just burst into tears. I didn’t take it in at first.”
The 28-year-old mom delivered Amelia, Sofia, Aston, and Roman this past February. Katalina Martin shocked her doctors even more when they discovered that the quadruplets were non-identical and came from four separate eggs, which, experts say, was almost completely unheard of until now. According to reports, the odds of conceiving non-identical quadruplets from four eggs is around one in 700,000.
Katalina, who has received support from the Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA), said that she is so relieved and thankful that all of her children were born safe.
“I couldn’t believe when I saw them lying there in their cots,” Katalina said. “They all came from a different egg… and they have different personalities.”
Although Katalina was just 27 weeks into her pregnancy and each baby weighed around only two or three pounds when delivered, they are now perfectly healthy and living at home with Katalina and their dad Matthew Davies.
